Kyle & Wayne | Lincoln Memorial | DC Proposal Photographer

Oh how I just love proposals! Wayne planned this proposal very well! He started the day off telling Kyle that their friend William wanted to visit the DC monuments for the day. I thought this was a great tactic to keep Kyle from suspecting anything. Who would ever suspect that a proposal was about to happen with a third wheel? It also worked out well because I could text back and forth with William instead of Wayne for updates on their location. When they were all at the reflecting pool, I received the go from William that they were almost there. I blended in with the hundreds of tourists with cameras there that day and kept my eyes open for Kyle & Wayne. When I spotted them, I followed behind them as they came up the stairs to the Lincoln Memorial. William suddenly got an “important phone call” and told Kyle & Wayne to continue looking and he would be right there. Wayne led Kyle to the side of the Lincoln Memorial where they had a little bit of privacy. As they were almost to the back, in between two of the columns, Wayne had arranged a little set up of champagne, pictures of the two of them, and a book he had made. I imagine Kyle probably had a hint of what was about to happen when she saw this. I loved how Wayne didn’t rush the proposal. They looked through the book Wayne had made which had more pictures of the two of them as well as a page dedicated to a different place. In the book, Kyle talked about the progression of their relationship and memories at each of the places. Kyle was crying tears of happiness as she was reading it. Of course, the last place in the book was the Lincoln Memorial and at this point Wayne got down on one knee and asked Kyle to marry him. After the actual proposal, the two sat on the side of Lincoln Memorial sipping champagne and chatting. It was so perfectly cute. After 15 minutes or so, Wayne had more surprises up his sleeve as family and friends (some of whom had traveled from out of town) surprised Kyle. This of course brought even more tears. I’m so happy I was able to be a part of this special day with Kyle & Wayne. I wish them much luck in their future together!
