Deirdre & Connor | Fells Point | Baltimore Engagement Photographer

Deirdre & Connor live in Fells Point so having their engagement session photographed there was a no brainer. We started off at Duda’s Tavern which is right around the corner from where they live. We walked through the cobblestone streets, strolled along the water, and of course snagged some night shots along Thames Street. Deirdre & Connor are so sweet and were so easy to photograph. They are getting married in New York next year and I wish them much luck with the rest of their wedding planning and much happiness in their future together!

Christina & Ryan | Glen Ellen Farm | Baltimore Wedding Photographer

Christina & Ryan were calm, cool (alright, maybe not temperature cool because it was actually really hot), and collected on their wedding day. I started the day off at one of Christina’s friend’s house for Christina’s getting ready which was really close to the venue. We then headed over to the absolutely gorgeous Glen Ellen Farm. If you are looking for an outdoor, tented wedding, this place has it all–a beautiful pond, out-of-this world flower gardens, a beach, an old farmhouse, and rustic buildings. It is a new wedding venue in Frederick so if you haven’t heard of it, that is probably why. Anyway, Christina & Ryan decided to do a first look which is pretty standard in most weddings today. But, they did something different during their first look which I thought was such a great idea. They read their vows that they had written to one another. During a couple’s first look, I’m basically the only person around and I try to stay as far away as possible so the moment ends up being a really intimate time between a couple. I think saying your vows during the first look is a great alternative if a couple is nervous in front of a large crowd or just wants vows that are more private. I had never seen this done before and I thought it was a great idea! These two were troopers cuddling when the the weather was blistering hot during portraits. And I’m glad they did so we could take advantage of the gorgeous grounds of Glen Ellen Farm. After the ceremony, toasts, dances, and more dancing, the evening came to a close. The day and evening seemed to fly by with these two and I’m so excited I could be a part of their day. Now, I can’t wait to hear about their amazing honeymoon to Italy!

Kalyn & Jeff | Tiki Bar Tolchester | Eastern Shore Proposal Photographer

I first met Jeff a couple of years back when he was a groomsman at the wedding of one of my other couples, Evan & Erin. I actually photographed Evan’s proposal to Erin as well so it was fun to continue the tradition. At any rate, Jeff had it hall planned out. He told Kalyn they were boating over to the Tiki Bar in Tolchester to meet some friends one Friday evening. This wasn’t anything unusual as they do this type of thing quite often during the summer. Little did Kalyn know that a BIG surprise was awaiting her. Jeff had planned for Evan and another friend to be there early and write, “Kalyn, will you marry me?” in the sand. They also helped me spot the boat as Jeff and Kalyn were arriving. I was perched on top of a big hill and had a 360 degree view of my everything so I could see the boat arriving as well as when it was pulling into the marina. You can even see Jeff texting me in one of the pictures. Jeff told Kalyn he wanted to go up the hill and watch the sunset before they made their way to the bar. And I was waiting! When Jeff and I were planning everything out, he told me I could easily hide behind one of the many trees. There was exactly one tree that was big enough for me to hide behind so I patiently waited as they walked up the hill so they wouldn’t see me. Proposals where I have to hide and not just pretend I’m a tourist are always the most nerve wracking. I’m always scared I’m going to be spotted, but I think the tree did its job for this one. Immediately when Jeff & Kalyn arrived at the top of the hill, Kalyn saw the writing in the sand and Jeff got down on one knee and said, “Yes!”. When Evan and his friend saw the proposal happening from below, they knew that was their sign to start setting off fireworks. Unfortunately, it was too light outside for them to show up in any photos, but they were there, I promise. Kalyn immediately started making the phone calls to family members anxiously awaiting the news. We headed down the hill for some portraits and then the celebration began! I’m so happy for Jeff & Kalyn and I’m so happy I could be part of the surprise!

Samantha & Ryan | Legg Mason Tower | Baltimore Wedding Photographer

Sam & Ryan’s wedding was extra special….not just because Sam & Ryan are really, really awesome, and not just because we had a team of amazing vendors, but also because I was married at Legg Mason Tower and got ready at Four Seasons Baltimore. This was the first time I have been back to the venue since I was married there in April so it definitely was a little reminiscent for me. Also besides the venues, we had many of the same vendors including Elizabeth Bailey Weddings, Harbor Tower Events, Event Pro, MLC Designs, Sugar Bakers, Betsy Robinson’s Bridal Collection, Amie Decker Beauty, Party Rental LTD so it was good to work with all of them again! Sam must have good taste :).

Alright, enough with my reminiscing. Like I said, Sam & Ryan are seriously awesome! These two are so laid back and have so much fun together. When it rained during our portrait time, no big deal because these two were up for anything. And of course, the rain was worth it because we had amazing looking skies and we can’t forget about the double rainbow that appeared at the end of cocktail hour. I seriously don’t think I’ve seen a more perfect rainbow. Sam looked absolutely gorgeous. First off, her dress had pockets which makes it a winner by default. Secondly, Sam’s skin is flawless for which I am jealous. So after Sam looking gorgeous and after the ceremony and rainbow came the dancing. Sometimes dancing photos can be boring to photograph after a while because it’s the same thing to photograph over and over. With Sam & Ryan’s wedding, I didn’t get bored once with dancing photos. Nicolas and One Love kept the dance floor packed all night and it was awesome!

Many congrats to Sam & Ryan and I’m so happy I could be a part of your wedding day! I can’t wait to be back photographing again at the Legg Mason Tower in November.

Heather & Max | Harborview | Baltimore Engagement Photographer

Heather & Max are absolutely hilarious together! During the consult, I just met with Heather and her parents so I was excited to meet Max for the first time during the engagement session. I could tell from email correspondence that he was going to be a funny guy and I was right :). These two play off of one another and it is great. Max pokes and Heather reacts. We started off the session on the Promenade that runs along the harbor in downtown Baltimore. We then headed inside of Harborview Condos for some inside photographs. Heather is not really an outdoorsy person so it made sense that we photograph a lot of their engagement photos indoors. But we were able to head outside for some night shots towards the end of the night. I had such a fun time observing (and photographing) these two and I’m so excited for their Royal Sonesta wedding next year!
