Maria & Jae | Cloisters Castle | Baltimore Wedding Photographer

Before heading over to Cloisters Castle for some Maria & Jae’s Korean wedding ceremony and reception, I started the day off at Maria’s condo where both Jae and Maria got ready. We had so much extra time built into their wedding day so it was wonderful not to be rushed and to have plenty of time for creative photos. After Maria put on her dress that was handmade by one of her good friends, we roamed the castle grounds indoors and outdoors for some gorgeous portraits. The entire ceremony was spoken in Korean and even though I couldn’t understand the words being spoken, emotions are the same at any wedding and that is exactly what I aimed to capture. Maria changed halfway through the reception from her white gown into her traditional Korean gown. I love that my jobs allows me to experience different cultures and traditions! Maria & Jae will also be having a ceremony in Korea at a later date. I’m so happy I could photograph Maria & Jae’s wedding and I wish them much happiness in their future together!

Nick & Jill | Pier 7 Heliport | Baltimore Proposal Photographer

Nick originally called me in January…..for a June proposal! Talk about a planner. Typically guys will call me 2-3 weeks before they are going to propose. But I suppose when you are planning an amazing and over-the-top proposal like this, a 2-3 week window just doesn’t cut it. Like most couples now, Jill knew this day was coming soon, but Nick was dead set on surprising her even though he’s not a very good “liar” and Jill is really good at reading him. Well he definitely surprised her….over and over again!

Nick told Jill they were going to a banquet for his work so she would get dressed up. While they were driving to the “banquet,” she was busy doing her own work stuff on her phone and didn’t even notice Nick was driving the wrong way. They pulled up to the Pier 7 Helipad area and as they got out of the car, she had a pretty good idea of what was about to happen. Nick took her out on the helipad and proposed right there (surprise #1). It was so sweet and so adorable…and um the most perfect backdrop ever. After the initial shock, Jill’s sister and brother-in-law came out from hiding (surprise #2). And Nick informed Jill all four of them were going to ride in the helicopter to St. Michaels to have dinner (surprise #3). At this point, one would imagine the surprises are over. Nope. Jill kept asking if any of her family and friends knew the proposal was happening today. Nick and Jill’s sister kept a straight face and told her no one else knew the exact day. After a few portraits, the crew headed off in the helicopter. At this point, my job was done but luckily I know the next surprise so I can tell you now. After dinner in St. Michaels, they flew back to Baltimore and drove to The Boathouse. All of those people who supposedly didn’t know about the proposal were waiting there to celebrate with them (surprise #4)! Since I wasn’t there at that point, you will have to get Nick & Jill to fill you in on the details, but wow, right?? Good job Nick.

So, so happy for these two and I’m glad I could capture so much love and happiness for these two!

Lacy & Matt | Glen Echo Park | Maryland Engagement Photographer

Lacy & Matt are hilarious together…period. Lacy has this witty sense of humor about her and Matt just gets it. They are so playful and silly around each other which is something really great to have in a relationship. They were skipping, jumping off swing sets, and just having fun which made for some amazing photos. We photographed their engagement session at Glen Echo Park in Maryland. I have never photographed at this location before, but it has been on my list so I was delighted when Lacy suggested it. I can’t wait to photograph their November wedding at the Legg Mason Tower (the same place I was married!). I just know it is going to be a blast!

Becca & Dave | Hippodrome Theatre | Baltimore Wedding Photographer

I have been excited about this wedding for a long time. Not only are Becca & Dave really awesome people but they were getting married at the Hippodrome Theatre in Baltimore, Maryland and their wedding was going to be a 20’s theme. So fun! We started the wedding day off getting ready in the dressing rooms at the  Hippodrome Theatre. We had a first look and then it was time for the really fun part for me–being able to explore the Hippodrome with these two and take all kinds of really cool portraits. These two were married on the stage while guests sat in the seats as if they were watching a show. It was so gorgeous and so unique. After cocktail hour, it was time for the reception reveal. Guests gathered where they sat for the ceremony and the curtains opened to reveal the reception space. It was stunning thanks to Tiffanie from Bird of Paradise Events and fit in perfectly when the unique venue space and theme of the wedding. Becca, Dave, and I were even able to head outside for some sunset photos next to the Starbuck’s that was right across the street from the venue. If you want to know why Starbuck’s is a special place for these two, go here to view their whole story (and see their engagement photos). I’m so happy I was able to photograph this special day for these two. Congrats to Becca & Dave!

Rose & Alex | Brookside Gardens | Baltimore Engagement Session

The weather (and flowers for that matter) for Rose & Alex’s engagement session at Brookside Gardens in Silver Spring, Maryland was absolutely perfect. This type of weather seems like something nonexistent with the weather we have been having the past couple of weeks so it felt so good to edit these and remember that yes, one day the weather will be gorgeous like this again. Rose & Alex were so fun and easy to work with and I can’t wait for their April wedding next year at The Belvedere.
